Summer Art Camp Video

We started our camp at three days and 45 campers, and now offer five days with extended hours to 3 o’clock.

This year, there were 142 campers! We raised over $60,000 to fund bags and support our campers with fun and enrichment.

In addition to 18 Govalle staffers to help with camp, we hired 10 local artist and vacationing AISD art teachers as artist instructors, four Govalle staffers specifically to handle four special needs students (because 100% inclusivity is important to us!), and 12 former Govalle students and graduates in our work study camp volunteer program. We had over 35 volunteers from the community, PTA and donors.

In the extended hours, we had a movie day, a indoor camp games day competition, a field trip for bowling and skating, a splash day with a waterslide and foam cannon. We also had our 10 cabins do National Park presentations and served over 350 people lunch at our Friday art show and family day featuring a Mariachi from Austin Soundwaves.

It was unanimous that the kids had a blast, and we cannot thank you enough for your support!
